Floor coatings in Fraser
SBV Concrete Coatings completed a flooring transformation for a mountain home in Fraser, taking a worn, tired slab and turning it into a finished floor the owners are proud of. Fraser is over Berthoud Pass from the Front Range, but we do work out of town, and mountain homes are a big part of what we love doing.
Homes in the Fraser Valley see some of the coldest conditions in Colorado, so the details matter: proper grinding, repair of any surface damage and a system chosen for the space. For garages, we usually start the conversation with a garage floor coating. For homes with existing coatings that are peeling or failing, our repair and coating removal work comes first.

Local know-how
What to know in Fraser
Mountain Homes Near Winter Park
Fraser sits in the Fraser Valley along US-40, just down the road from Winter Park. The housing mix includes full-time residences, cabins, condos and vacation homes, many with garages built to handle ski gear, snowmobiles and the vehicles that tow them. Some homes are newer construction, while others are older mountain properties with slabs that have taken years of winter abuse. Since the housing stock varies so much, we always want to see photos or the floor itself before making recommendations.
One of Colorado's Coldest Valleys
Fraser is known for brutally cold winter nights, with the valley regularly recording some of the lowest temperatures in the state. That cold, plus heavy snowfall and road treatments on US-40 and Berthoud Pass, puts a lot of stress on concrete. Snow melts off vehicles and refreezes, and repeated freeze–thaw can break down an unprotected surface. Cold also limits when coatings can be applied and cured, so heated garages and summer months give the most flexibility for scheduling.
Vacation Homes and Rentals
Plenty of Fraser homes are second homes or rentals serving Winter Park skiers and summer mountain bikers. Garages and entryways take a beating from boots, skis and bikes, and owners want floors that look clean and are easy to maintain from a distance. A coated floor is seamless and simple to mop or squeegee. If you manage your home remotely, we can coordinate with you or a local property manager to plan access around bookings.

Do you travel to Fraser in winter?
We do work out of town year-round when conditions allow, but winter mountain travel and cold temperatures both affect scheduling. A heated garage gives us far more options for installing in the colder months. We'll talk through what's realistic for your home and confirm timing in your written estimate.
Can you fix a garage coating that's peeling in my Fraser home?
Usually, yes. Peeling often comes from poor prep, moisture or a coating not suited to the conditions. We grind off the failing material, repair the concrete and, where moisture is a concern, can install a moisture barrier before the new system. We'll explain what we think caused the problem when we look at it.
How does extreme cold affect a coated floor once it's installed?
Once cured, a properly installed coating handles cold well. The bigger concern is during installation, since coatings need suitable temperatures to cure. That's why we're careful about timing, slab temperature and heating in Fraser and other mountain towns, and why we won't rush an install just to fit a date.
