Patio and Porch Coatings That Handle Colorado Weather
Give your covered patio or front porch a sealed, textured finish that stands up to sun, snow and freeze-thaw cycles.
Patio & Porch Coatings
Patio & Porch Coatings from SBV
Your patio and front porch get the full Colorado treatment: intense sun, hail, snow, and freeze-thaw cycles that chip away at bare concrete. A coating gives that concrete a sealed, finished surface that looks great and is easier to keep clean. SBV Concrete Coatings has coated a covered patio in Thornton with a UV-stable polyaspartic system, a front porch with a textured flake finish, and completed patio projects in Lakewood and Parker.
For outdoor work, the topcoat matters. We usually recommend a polyaspartic topcoat because it resists yellowing in the sun. A flake broadcast adds color and texture, which helps with footing when the surface is wet from rain, snowmelt or a garden hose.
Outdoor slabs can also have cracks, spalling or settling. We look at the concrete closely before quoting and repair what we can, or let you know if a section needs more work first. You can see examples in our gallery.

Why it works
Why choose patio & porch coatings
UV-Stable Finish
Colorado's high-altitude sun is hard on outdoor surfaces. We use UV-stable topcoats like polyaspartic so the color and clarity of your patio or porch hold up better than with coatings that yellow in sunlight, like many standard epoxies.
Better Footing When Wet
A flake broadcast creates a light texture that helps with grip compared to smooth sealed concrete. That is useful when rain, snowmelt or a hose leaves the surface wet. We can talk about adding more texture for steps and entries.
Curb Appeal for the Front Door
A coated front porch looks clean and finished and makes a strong first impression. Color blends can be picked to match your siding, trim or stone, which also helps in HOA neighborhoods where exterior looks matter.
Seals Out Water and Salt
Sealing the surface helps keep water and deicer salts from soaking into the concrete, where freeze-thaw cycles can cause scaling and spalling. It also makes spills from grills, planters and drinks much easier to clean up.
The install
How SBV installs it
Inspection and Moisture Check
We check the slab for cracks, spalling, settling, drainage and moisture, and confirm a coating is a good fit for the space.
Grinding and Crack Repair
We diamond-grind the concrete, fill cracks and patch damaged spots so the coating bonds to a sound surface.
Base Coat
A base coat goes down in a color that suits your flake blend and your home's exterior.
Flake Broadcast
We broadcast flake for color and texture, then scrape and vacuum off the loose chips.
UV-Stable Topcoat
A clear, UV-stable topcoat seals the patio or porch. Cure time depends on temperature and the system chosen, and we will walk you through when you can walk on it and when you can park on it.

Customer reviews
What SBV customers say
Nelson helped transform and seal my patio, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! He did a great job explaining the different coating options and helping me understand what would work best for my patio. I really appreciate the amazing service and quality of the finished product. Highly recommend!
Very professional people, were there on time and made sure to explain everything!
SBV Concrete & Coating did an amazing job from start to finish. They were prompt, professional, and communicated great throughout the entire project. The quality of work exceeded my expectations, and everything was completed on time and very clean. It’s hard to find contractors that are reliable and take pride in their work, but these guys definitely do. I highly recommend SBV Concrete & Coating to anyone looking for quality concrete and coating work. 🙏
Will a coating survive Colorado freeze-thaw cycles?
A properly prepared and sealed surface helps protect concrete from the water that causes freeze-thaw damage. That said, outdoor slabs move, and existing cracks can return if the slab shifts. We check the concrete closely, repair what we can and tell you honestly if a section has problems a coating will not fix.
Do you coat uncovered patios too?
Covered patios and porches are the best fit because they get less standing water, snow load and direct weather. Uncovered slabs can sometimes be coated, but they take more abuse from sun, snow and ice. We will look at your patio, its drainage and condition, and recommend whether a coating or a sealer makes more sense.
Will a coated porch be slippery in winter?
A flake floor has light texture, so it typically offers better footing than smooth sealed concrete. Any outdoor surface can be slick with ice on it, though. If your porch sees a lot of foot traffic in winter, ask about extra texture in the topcoat. We also suggest checking the label on deicers before using them on a coated surface.
Can you coat my patio when you do my garage?
Yes, and many homeowners combine them. In Parker, we did a 1,175 sq ft transformation that included a garage, basement and patio. Doing the work together can make planning simpler, and we can match or coordinate colors across the spaces.
