Metallic Epoxy Floors

Metallic Epoxy Floors from SBV

Metallic epoxy is where floor coating turns into something closer to art. Metallic pigments are worked through the epoxy by hand, creating depth, movement and a glossy marbled finish. SBV Concrete Coatings has installed a dark marble metallic floor in Thornton, copper and bronze tones, a white and copper swirl, a custom metallic floor in Evergreen and a luxury metallic finish for an Airbnb in Fairplay.

Because the effect is created on site, every metallic floor is a one-off. We talk through colors, how bold you want the movement to be and how the light in the room will play off the finish. Looking through our gallery is a good place to start, and we are happy to talk through ideas at your free estimate.

Metallic floors are popular in basements, living spaces, rentals and showroom areas where you want the floor to stand out. They need careful prep like any coating, so we start with a moisture check and diamond grinding. If you would rather have a textured, low-maintenance garage floor, a flake floor may be the better fit, and we will tell you so.

Why it works

Why choose metallic epoxy floors

A Floor Nobody Else Has

Metallic pigments are moved through the epoxy by hand, so the pattern of swirls, veins and highlights is unique to your floor. Whether you want a dark marble like our Thornton job or warm copper tones, the result is a custom piece built into your space.

Depth and Shine

The reflective metallic pigments catch light differently as you walk across the room, giving the floor a three-dimensional look. A clear topcoat adds gloss and protects the design, so the floor reads as a finished surface rather than coated concrete.

Great for Rentals and Living Spaces

A metallic floor gives a basement, a living area or a short-term rental a distinctive look that guests notice. We installed one as a luxury finish for an Airbnb in Fairplay. The sealed, seamless surface also wipes clean easily between stays.

Seamless and Easy to Clean

There are no grout lines or seams for dirt to collect in. Day-to-day care is a dust mop and a damp mop with a mild cleaner. That simple care routine is a big part of why owners choose metallic over tile in busy areas.

The install

How SBV installs it

  1. Design Talk and Moisture Check

We go over colors, the style of movement you like and the lighting in the room, then check the slab for moisture and existing coatings.

  2. Diamond Grinding and Surface Repair

We grind the floor and fill cracks and low spots carefully. Metallic finishes show surface flaws more than flake, so this step gets extra attention.

  3. Primer and Base Color

A primer and a tinted base coat go down to seal the concrete and set the background tone for the metallic layer.

  4. Metallic Design Layer

We pour the metallic epoxy and work the pigments by hand to create the marble, swirl or veining effect you chose.

  5. Protective Topcoat

A clear topcoat protects the design and sets the sheen. Cure time depends on temperature and the system chosen, and we will walk you through when you can walk on it and when you can park on it.

A good fit for

  • Basements and family rooms
  • Airbnbs and rental properties
  • Mountain homes and cabins
  • Showrooms and retail spaces
  • Home bars and game rooms

FAQ

Metallic Epoxy Floors FAQ

Still have a question? Call or text (303) 241-0610.

Is metallic epoxy a good choice for a garage?

It can be, but it is not always our first suggestion. Metallic finishes are glossy and smooth, which shows scratches, dust and tire marks more than flake, and can be slick when snowmelt drips off the car. For a hard-working Colorado garage, many homeowners choose flake. For basements, living spaces and showrooms, metallic really shines.

Can I pick the exact pattern?

You can pick the colors and the general style, such as a dark marble, a soft swirl or bold veining, and we will steer the design that way. Because the pigments move as they are worked by hand, the exact pattern cannot be copied line for line. That natural variation is what makes each metallic floor unique.

Does sunlight affect metallic floors?

Colorado's high-altitude sun is strong, and some epoxies can yellow or shift with heavy UV exposure. For rooms that get a lot of direct sun, we talk about topcoat options that help with UV. Basements and interior rooms are naturally well suited to metallic finishes.

Can you install metallic epoxy over a basement slab?

Often, yes, but basements in Colorado can have moisture coming up through the slab. We check for moisture before quoting. If there is a moisture concern, we may recommend a moisture-mitigating primer first so the coating bonds well and lasts. You will see that in your written estimate.
